Connecting MyFitnessPal, Cronometer, and Other Nutrition Apps

If you use a nutrition or calorie-tracking app to log your meals, you can get that data into Gymfluence automatically — no manual entry needed. This article explains how.

The General Rule

Gymfluence doesn't connect directly to nutrition apps like MyFitnessPal, Cronometer, Lose It!, or Yazio. Instead, it reads data from Apple Health (iOS) or Health Connect (Android) — and most nutrition apps can write their data into one of these automatically.

So the setup has two steps:

  1. Connect your nutrition app to Apple Health or Health Connect (covered below)

  2. Connect Gymfluence to Apple Health or Health Connect — see Connecting Gymfluence to Apple Health or Health Connect

Once both connections are in place, your weight, steps, and nutrition macros (protein, carbs, fat) will flow through automatically: Nutrition App → Apple Health / Health Connect → Gymfluence.

MyFitnessPal

iPhone (Apple Health)

  1. Open MyFitnessPal and tap More

  2. Tap Apps & Devices

  3. Select Apple Health, then tap Settings

  4. Turn on the data types you want to share — typically Weight, Steps, and Nutrition

  5. Confirm permissions in the Apple Health app if prompted (Profile → Apps → MyFitnessPal)

Android (Health Connect)

  1. Open MyFitnessPal and tap the Menu

  2. Go to Apps & Devices and select Health Connect

  3. Turn the integration on and allow all requested permissions

  4. Tap Done to finish

Note: Health Connect requires Android 10+ and a recent version of MyFitnessPal.

Cronometer

iPhone (Apple Health)

  1. Open Cronometer and tap More

  2. Tap Connect Apps & Devices, then select Apple Health

  3. Choose Turn All Categories On, or manually select the data types to share (Weight, Steps, Nutrition)

  4. Tap Allow in the top-right corner to save

Android (Health Connect)

  1. Open Cronometer and tap More

  2. Tap Connect Apps & Devices, then select Health Connect

  3. Follow the prompts to grant the requested permissions

Lose It!

iPhone (Apple Health)

  1. Open Lose It! and tap the Profile icon (top right)

  2. Under Automatic Tracking, select Apple Health

  3. Choose which data to share, then confirm

Note: Lose It!'s Apple Health integration is most reliable for weight and activity data. If your macros aren't appearing in Apple Health, double-check your sharing permissions under Settings → Health → Lose It! on your iPhone.

Yazio

iPhone (Apple Health)

  1. Open Yazio and go to the Profile tab

  2. Scroll to Automatic Tracking and select Health

  3. Tap Connect and follow the on-screen prompts

Android (Health Connect)

  1. Open Yazio and go to the Profile tab

  2. Scroll to Automatic Tracking and select Health Connect

  3. Tap Connect and grant the requested permissions

Note: Yazio connects directly to Health Connect on newer Android versions. If you're on an older setup that still relies on Google Fit, you may need to link Google Fit to Health Connect first, then connect Yazio to Health Connect.

Don't See Your App Listed?

Most nutrition and fitness apps support syncing with Apple Health or Health Connect, even if we haven't listed the exact steps here. Look for a setting in your app called "Apple Health," "HealthKit," "Health Connect," or "Sync with Health" — usually found under Settings, Profile, or Apps & Devices. Once that connection is made, Gymfluence will pick up the data the same way.

Still Not Syncing?

If you've connected your nutrition app but don't see the data in Gymfluence, check out Health Data Not Syncing? for troubleshooting steps.
